12th Tee Golf Launch & Member Q&A Announcement

The Taupo Golf Club (TGC) and its Board are proud to announce the proposed development of a cutting-edge indoor golf simulator facility – 12th Tee Golf – as stage one of the clubs development plan.

The club has partnered with PGA Professional Hamish Robertson, owner of 12th Tee Golf, to bring this project to life. With his extensive experience in coaching, custom fitting, and elite golf development, Hamish is ideally suited to lead this initiative. Hamish will lease and operate the facility as a tenant, separate from his existing roles.

12th Tee Golf will include:

• A state-of-the-art facility featuring four high-performance Trackman golf simulators
• A full custom fitting studio for all major club brands
• Elite and beginner coaching options across all levels, led by PGA Professional Hamish Robertson

We see this partnership as a chance to stand out from other local golf clubs, establish ourselves as a premier Central North Island destination for year-round golf, and showcase our club as innovative and appealing to a new generation of golfers (20 – 50 age group).

This project lets us attract new members and revenue while future-proofing our club. With a 10-year lease with 12th Tee Golf covering our building loan, well also retain all food and beverage revenue, boost member retention, and drive retail sales growth.

Your playing groups, routines, and cherished activities will continue just as they always have. This addition creates an affordable, accessible activity for families—providing a perfect opportunity to introduce your children and grandchildren to the sport you already love.

The new simulator building will be constructed near the current cart shed, minimising disruption to club operations and allowing for future enhancements to the main clubhouse.

We’re targeting a December 2025 opening, subject to design, approvals, and a key milestone: member approval for any required debt funding. We’re fully committed to transparency and will provide clear guidance on when and how that member consultation will occur, in accordance with our constitution.
